beach sunset

I went back to Aptos last week to visit with my aunt, uncle and cousins. They live about a 10 minute run from the beach, which got me back into running (surprise, surprise). The weather was perfect, with some beautiful sunsets that I enjoyed with my aunt and cousin.

When we were all younger, our families would always take beach trips together during the summer weekends. And every time, we would engage in the most exciting activity there is at the beach: digging the biggest hole we could manage, convincing my sister (the oldest) to let us bury her, giving a large plastic bucket to a 7 year old olivia to fill with cold salty water, then running like hell as my sister tried to extract herself and chase us down. meanwhile, a 4 yr old jon-paul would be asking my dad to 'get' him. 'getting' jon-paul usually involved filling up a large bucket (sound familiar) with seawater and chasing him around the beach. at no point was this actually supposed to involve jon-paul 'getting' wet. unfortunately, my dad was never quite clear on the concept, and jon-paul would end up drenched from head to toe and unhappy.
